Destination Travel in Dehradun


The city of Dehradun is the capital of the state of Uttarakhand. The city is home to several attractions and religious sites, including the Ghanta Ghar clock tower, the Paltan Bazaar, and the Gurdwara Nanaksar, a Sikh temple. Located on the banks of the Baldi River, Sahastradhara is home to a thousand-fold spring that is reputed for its medicinal properties. From Dehradun, tourists can travel to Sahastradhara by bus or auto. The nearest railway station is in Dehradun, and the Jolly Grant Airport is approximately 36 km from Sahastradhara.

Jwalaji Temple

Dehradun is a beautiful town full of temples. Jwalaji Temple is one of them, with its gilded dome and spellbinding vibe. It is considered one of India’s 51 Shakti Peethas. It is open seven days a week from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Jwalaji Temple in Dehradun is a popular religious destination, and it attracts devotees all year round. Tapkeshwar Mahadeva Temple has a special significance because of its natural Shiva Linga. It was created when the river flowed through tunnels and water dropped on the Shiv Linga continuously. It is considered sacred by the local people. It is believed to be the home of the revered teacher of the Kauravas and Pandavas, Guru Dronacharya. It is said that the Guru dwelt in the cave that is now a temple.

Fun Valley

Fun Valley is a popular destination for the whole family. Situated on the Haridwar-Dehradun highway, it’s easily accessible by car or taxi. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, which is about 20 km away. Fun Valley is also accessible by train from Dehradun, Haridwar, or Rishikesh.
