Art in the Park Boise 2022

Boise Art Museum hosts this three-day fundraiser each year featuring over 240 artists and 30 food vendors to raise money for its organization. Additionally, this three-day affair also offers arts activities for children along with live music performances.

Shoppers can find contemporary artworks like glass, metalwork, pottery, and textiles at the Sculpture Garden Pub while listening to musicians at Gene Harris Bandshell.

Art

Art in the Park Boise 2022 is Boise’s premier local arts and crafts festival. Held annually over Labor Day weekend at Julia Davis Park in Boise, this year, the event attracted over 240 artists – 49 new exhibitors as well as 106 Idaho artists! Visitors have the opportunity to meet these creators as well as purchase original works of art at this unique festival.

On each day of this three-day event, people can wander through over two dozen tents filled with contemporary arts and crafts such as glasswork, metalwork, pottery textiles, jewelry, and toys. Food and drinks will also be sold here, including Dasani water at each BAM information booth, plus several beer and wine vendors; there will also be options like gyros, mac n cheese Hawaiian food BBQ sweet treats like elephant ears funnel cakes, churros, cotton candy and baked goods!

People looking for an enjoyable musical experience should visit the Gene Harris Bandshell. Here, visitors can watch live performances by local musicians as well as create art themselves at one of three projects related to current Boise Art Museum exhibitions. Children also enjoy creating artwork at their very own children’s art tent!

The Children’s Art Tent is open Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm; the project costs just $2 per child to create, with BAM volunteers providing supervision. These arts activities aim to foster creativity and imagination among young people while drawing upon artwork in the gallery for inspiration – perfect souvenirs from your visit!

At this year’s fair, attendees can witness Boise Art Museum’s brand new permanent exhibition: The Fractured Giant. Its stunning installation explores imagination, diversity, and community; additionally, there will be numerous special exhibitions in the museum as well as fundraising efforts, such as Art in the Park, which raised over $200,000 last September alone!

Food

Food vendors at any festival are an incredible draw, and this year is no different. Retail vendors and trucks serving delicious gyros, Hawaiian cuisine, BBQ, and mac and cheese dishes, as well as sweet treats such as elephant ears funnel cakes, churros, and cotton candy, will also be on hand. And don’t forget the Sculpture Garden Pub, where you can relax with a beer or glass of wine to complement all this fantastic fare!

Widely considered one of the premier cultural events in the Northwest, this three-day sale showcases contemporary arts and crafts made by over 240 regional artists, many being Idaho natives.

BAM hosts Art in the Park each year as a fundraiser to support its educational programs and exhibitions. All proceeds from this event support BAM’s mission of inspiring art enthusiasts throughout Boise to discover the joy of learning through art and appreciate how it enriches their lives.

Music

This year’s lineup is filled with talented musicians from across the United States. Ranging from hard rock, country, blues, and funk music genres – Alive After 5 offers something for everyone at this festival, featuring local food vendors and beers from local producers! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Townsquare Media, which organized this year’s Boise Music Festival, has had difficulty recruiting artists willing to commit to full-day events due to this climate, and it also proved challenging to coordinate with other local events. 103.5 KISS FM reported on their cancellation.

2022’s edition of the festival will take place in June despite cancellation; and promises a variety of unique musical acts, including Montana-based string band Hardwood Heart and Hoochie Coochie Men will perform.

Local music fans can look forward to Alive After 5, a free summer concert series held on Wednesdays throughout June, July, and August at Grove Plaza in Downtown Boise. Produced by the Downtown Boise Association in collaboration with Duck Club Music Promotion Agency of Idaho – its goal is to support emerging talent while giving local musicians a platform for their skills.

Julia Davis Park hosted its popular cultural event on Friday and will remain open through Sunday, bringing with it more than 240 art and craft artists showcasing glass, metalworks, pottery & textiles, textiles jewelry, toys, and toys, as well as 48 new artists making their debut this year. Additionally, there will be food vendors present as well.

The Boise Art Museum will also host engaging hands-on activities for kids at its Children’s Art tent. Here, they can find arts and crafts projects inspired by artwork on display in the museum that will spark their creativity. This year’s theme for Idaho Pride Festival is “It’s Our Time to Shine,” taking place September 9-10th. This three-day event celebrates Idaho’s LGBTQ+ community and features incredible performers such as pop sensation Slayyter, RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Gottmik, Australian dance vocalist Vassy, singer-songwriter Greyson Chance, and many others! Plus, this year will mark its largest parade yet, and family-friendly activities, culinary demonstrations, and educational seminars will also take place during its three days!

Attending this event is free; your only cost will be those associated with food and beverage purchases made during your visit. Vendors offer an array of delicious food and beverage offerings from savory to sweet; highlights at this festival include gyros, barbecued chicken, mac and cheese, as well as fair classics like elephant ears and funnel cakes. Sculpture Garden Pub also has options available for those who appreciate a drink – local beers and wines will be on offer here, too.

Visitors of the festival are invited to chat with artists at their booths and gain insight into their creative processes, which provides a fun way to interact with local artists. There is also a children’s art tent where children can create pieces to take home that complement the artwork on display in the museum.

Julia Davis Park will only offer limited parking during this event for those with disability permits; however, many nearby public garages, such as Boise State University Brady Garage and ParkBOI, offer all-day parking at an affordable rate for guests with access passes or all-day parking permits. Bikes or public transportation should be used to reach Julia Davis Park instead.
